American Airlines, Inc. (AA) is a major airline of the United States. It is the world’s largest airline in passenger miles transported and passenger fleet size; second largest, behind FedEx Express in aircraft operated; and second behind Air-France-KLM in operating revenues. A subsidiary of the AMR Corporation the airline is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas adjacent to the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. American operates scheduled flights throughout the US United States, and flights to Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Japan, China and India. . The Chairman, President, and CEOI of AA is Gerard Arpey. In 2005, the airline flew more than 138 billion revenue passenger miles (RPM).

AAdvantage® Travel Awards Program.

When the AAdvantage® Travel Awards Program began in 1981, it was the world's first frequent-flyer program designed to reward frequent flyers of American Airlines. Today, it is a global travel awards program that offers members countless ways to earn and use miles. Now in its 28th year, the award-winning AAdvantage program has more than 60 million members worldwide, making it one of the most successful loyalty programs in the travel industry.

AAdvantage members earn mileage credits by flying on American Airlines, American Eagle, AmericanConnection® carriers and oneworld™ carriers as well as other airline participants. Members also earn mileage credits by purchasing products/services from AAdvantage participants with non-airline related businesses, such as car rental and hotel companies, retailers and various service providers. In fact, about half of all miles earned are for products and services other than flying.

Members can earn miles at more than 1,000 participating companies, which include over 30 hotel chains representing more than 60 brands, more than 20 airlines, eight car rental companies, 12 financial companies and over 250 brand name retailers. In addition, members can earn miles when making purchases with one of more than 100 affinity card products in over 40 countries.
