Take a tour of classical Greece

September & October 2008 - easyCruiseOne

NEW for 2007, easyCruiseOne is cruising from Piraeus to some of the most magnificent historical sites in the world! From ancient Athens our 7-day itinerary takes you on a cultural tour of Greece both ancient and modern.

See the splendour of the Acropolis, by day and night. Revel in the sites of the city of Athens, the foundation stone of ancient and modern democracy. After passing through the world-famous Corinth canal, hewn from solid rock, take some time to relax and indulge in one of the finest wine producing areas of Greece. A tour of classical Greece lets you explore the nearby Ancient Corinth and Nemea, rich in history, or see the spectacular 3600 year old fortified citadel remains of the palace at Mycenae, supposed home of Agamemnon, the heroic warrior of Homer's Iliad. Visit Ithaki, the island home of the hero Odysseus, recently the centre of new controversy over its ancient past. See the ruins of the Temple of Zeus or run in the ancient Olympic stadium and become part of the origins of the Olympic Games at Olympia. Experience the mountain serenity of the ancient political and religious centre of the world: the sanctuary of Delphi with its Temple of Apollo and oracle once consulted by the most powerful men in the Mediterranean. Relax in a taverna by the sea on the island of Aegina or take the chance to visit the imposing Temple of Aphaea, one of the best preserved temples in Greece. On your return to Athens, admire the dramatic cliff-top setting of the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion, visited (and graffitied) by Lord Byron himself, before watching one of the finest sunsets in the world.

This is a voyage of discovery, and there's no easier way of exploring so many ancient and modern treasures in just seven days. There are 13 departures from 21st October 2007 to 6th April 2008 and prices begin from as little as £70 per person (based on two people sharing a standard inside cabin).

Arriving each day at or before noon, you can visit spectacular ruins, admire a landscape that inspired so many stories, or just appreciate the sunset over a glass of wine and a serving of olives with feta cheese. So come, explore your senses and create some history of your own as we cruise the Ancient Seas.
